Mission
OneTwentyOne was founded based on growth potential and opportunity. Just over 40 years ago, the S&P 500, an index representing the 500 largest (public) companies in the US, closed at $121. Today, that index has soared to nearly $6,000. This incredible growth symbolizes the trajectory that companies can take when they have the right guidance and strategies in place. Businesses have the power to achieve remarkable things.
According to StartupGenome, 90% of new companies fail. Statistics show that as many as 3,200 startups and new businesses went under in 2023 alone. Most of these companies were private and backed by venture capital. Failure isn't limited to the initial stages, as many businesses shutter within the first five to ten years.
An idea and an opportunity is not enough. The right people, process and strategy is essential to unlocking your company’s market potential.
Our mission is to help businesses uncover their full potential in today’s dynamic economic landscape by focusing on operational excellence, strategic sales leadership, and utilizing effective investor relations strategies. Let’s explore how we can take your business from where it is now to where it can truly be.
Founder
After spending almost 15 years at Nasdaq, Shawn realized that many new, and seasoned, companies struggle with navigating key areas like operations, sales growth, and investor relations and management. Too often, companies make decisions that hinder their long-term growth—whether it’s partnering with the wrong investors, missing out on market opportunities, or lacking the structure to scale efficiently. OneTwentyOne was started to build a foundation for companies, whether they were just an idea or in stages of funding, to mitigate the risks taken and do it right the first time. Unlocking their potential from the beginning.
Shawn’s experience includes leading the midwest as Managing Director for Nasdaq working with private companies, IPOs and listing process. Additionally, he built relationships with executives of some of the worlds most successful brands, focused on streamlining operations as a publicly listed company with investor targeting, market perception, sales leadership, ESG and corporate governance.
Shawn currently serves on the advisory boards for tech startup Stryke and Radford University Davis College of Business, and the advisory council for Harvard Business Review. He previously served on the advisory boards for National Geographic Society and Potbelly. Additionally, Shawn is FINRA licensed with his Series 77 and SIE.
